Restauration du pont Colbert EN

Brief overview 

Listed as a Historic Monument in 2020, Colbert Bridge has undergone a comprehensive restoration. Its structure, made up of a combination of original puddled iron and post-war steel, had suffered significant deterioration and has now been fully restored. The roadway has been refurbished and the pavements widened and made fully accessible to people with reduced mobility.

The civil engineering works included the restoration of the circular paving in the bridge's swing area, the repair of the staircases, abutments and quay coping, as well as the refurbishment of the control cabin and the renovation of the machinery building façade. The project also features architectural lighting to showcase the bridge at night.

The bridge reopened to road traffic and pedestrians on 8 July 2026 and is currently undergoing a commissioning phase, during which its operation is being monitored and fine-tuned under real operating conditions.

A small number of finishing works are still underway, including:

• completion of the restoration of the machinery building;
• landscaping of the bridge swing area.
