Description
The Ouistreham locks are the gateways to the port. The larger one was inaugurated at the same time as the canal in 1857, then updated and extended in 1963 to 225 m by 29 m. In 2019, a funnel-type lock entry system was installed to enable it to accommodate larger cargo vessels and thus sustain the port’s economic activity. The small lock was created in 1903 and is mainly reserved for pleasure craft and fishing boats.
