Port of Cherbourg winner of ADEME’s national call for projects

Cherbourg Port, winning project of the ADEME national call for the development of floating wind power

The selection of the project submitted by Ports de Normandie, is a strong recognition of the pivotal role played by the Port of Cherbourg in the development of this high-growth sector.

Thanks to the support of the France 2030 investment plan, operated by ADEME, Ports de Normandie will be able to move forward with the development of the future heavy-lift quay at the Port of Cherbourg — a key infrastructure to support the growth of the floating offshore wind industry.

With an investment of €30 million*, this new infrastructure will help to:

Accommodate several industrial projects simultaneously

Support the growth of traffic related to Marine Renewable Energies (MRE)

Strengthen the port’s competitiveness and enhance Normandy’s attractiveness

This investment also recognizes the commitment and long-term efforts of Normandy’s local authorities to establish Cherbourg as a leading port for the energy transition and sustainable economic development.

This project was funded by the Government as part of the France 2030 plan, administered by ADEME.
