Federal Fraser, number 1 in the “Guinness book” of the Port of Caen-Ouistreham!
On Wednesday January 18 at 5.30 p.m., the bulk carrier Federal Fraser (200mL/24mL) passed through the large lock in the port of Caen-Ouistreham, with 24,200 T of wheat on board.

In the memory of a pilot or a port officer, never such a tonnage had been transported from the port of Caen-Ouistreham.  Beyond the record, this confirms that the new guidance system allowing wider ships (from 24 to 27.4 m) to pass through the locks of Ouistreham, meets the new standards of world traffic and the objective  which motivated this heavy investment: sustaining the economic future of the port of Caen-Ouistreham.

"By choosing the Port of Caen-Ouistreham, the owner of the Federal Fraser validates the investments (€12 million) of Ports de Normandie (€10 million) and its operator, the CCI Caen Normandie (€2 million) which have  adapt the port to meet the needs of their customers.  This record also demonstrates the quality of the know-how of the teams, those of Ports de Normandie, the CCI, port officers, pilots and, beyond that, the entire port community of Caen, thanks to which the Port starts this year 2023 with the wind in its sails!”  declared Hervé Morin, President of Ports of Normandy
